Lot 326

1835 N-8 R1 PCGS graded MS65RB. PCGS graded MS-65 Red & Brown. Head of 1836. Lustrous light chocolate and steel brown with 25% of the bright original mint color remaining. Remnants of an old fingerprint show in the field before the face. A small spot of reddish carbon is located at the dentils over star 10, another is just right of star 6, one touches the left top of the U in UNITED, and a fourth of over the I in AMERICA. These spots are not distracting, but the fingerprint does catch your eye. MDS with a die crack extending up from the dentils along the right side of the 1 in the date and up through the neck and T in LIBERTY to the left side of star 8 where it fades out. Called MS65 and tied for CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #36379. Bland also says MS65 but tied for CC#3 in his census. Our grade is MS64. PCGS Population 1; none finer.
Estimated Value $2,000-UP.
Ex C. W. Betts collection 1867-unknown-Stack's 2/60:65-Emanuel Taylor 10/60.
