1835 N-7 R1 PCGS graded MS66BN. PCGS graded MS-66 Brown. Head of 1836. Choice satiny bluish steel brown and chocolate with slightly faded mint color covering the protected areas on both sides. A thin nick left of star 5 is the only notable mark. Great eye appeal for a normal example of the variety, but this one is very special thanks to the extra raised stars clearly visible on the obverse rim from above star 4 to above star 9. These stars came from an off center strike shifted to K-11.5. In addition, there are incuse stars on the reverse rim in the opposing location from an off center brockage impression against another struck cent. Usually large cent errors come worn or damaged making it difficult to identify what happened. Not so in this case. MDS with tiny lumps from die rust scattered over both sides, especially on the neck. Called MS63 and tied for CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #21248. Bland says MS60+ and tied for CC#4. Our grade is MS64. PCGS Population 1; none finer.
