Lot 315

1835 N-5 R2 PCGS graded MS66BN. PCGS graded MS-66 Brown. Head of 1834 with Small 8 and Stars. Lustrous medium brown and light olive with overtones of bluish steel on the obverse. Traces of faded mint color are bleeding through the toning on both sides. The only marks are faint diagonal woodgrained toning in the field on the upper half of the obverse and a small splash of chocolate toning at the right top of the T in CENT. Excellent luster and eye appeal. EDS with microscopic die flowlines in the fields producing satiny mint frost that adds to the excellent eye appeal. The die crack through the base of 835 is very fine (this may be a die scratch rather than a die crack as usually reported). Called MS63 and tied for CC#5 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS60 and tied for CC#6, his photo #28779. Our grade is MS63. PCGS Population 1; none finer.
Estimated Value $2,000-UP.
