1833 N-5 R1 PCGS graded MS65RB. PCGS graded MS-65 Red & Brown. Repunched 8, the so-called "Horned 8." Lustrous mint red mellowing to light chocolate and bluish steel, about half the faded mint color remaining. A small spot of dark toning at the upper right point of star 1 and a dull contact mark on the hair bun close to star 10 are the only significant defects. M-LDS with doubling on much of the reverse from die bounce. The repunching on the 8 is dull but remains easily visible. The reverse is rotated 25 degrees CW. Called MS70- and tied for CC#1 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS63 and tied for CC#8, his photo #20797. Our grade is MS64. PCGS Population 2; none finer.
Estimated Value $2,000-UP.
