Lot 283

1833 N-3 R1 PCGS graded MS66RB. PCGS graded MS-66 Red & Brown. Mint red faded to bluish steel brown, about half the faded mint color remaining. The surfaces are satiny and virtually perfect offering superb eye appeal. The only mark is a tiny, very light scuff that just breaks the frosty luster in the field under the tip of the chin. Later die state with the legend weakened near the dentils. Called MS65 and tied for CC#1 in the Noyes and Bland census lists, Noyes photo #27343. Our grade is MS67. PCGS Population 1; none finer.
Estimated Value $5,000-UP.
Ex Europe-Lester Merkin 3/6/68:183-Dr. M. Lamar Hicks, Stack's 3/18/86:845-John J. Nicholas-Tony Terranova 5/18/94.
