Lot 281

1833 N-2 R2 PCGS graded MS66RB. PCGS graded MS-66 Red & Brown. Lustrous bright mint red mellowing to steel brown on the highpoints, at least 70% of the original color remaining. The only marks are a small spot of darker steel brown toning in the field off the tip of the nose and a tiny spot of planchet impurity over the first 3 in the date. Otherwise this cent is a flawless gem in every respect. M-LDS with flowlines in the fields and the repunching on ONE CENT weak. The reverse is rotated 40 degrees CW and there is a minor double profile on the forelock and chin (caused by die bounce). Called MS66 choice and CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #33678. Bland says MS65+ and tied for CC#1. Our grade is MS66+. PCGS Population 1; none finer.
Estimated Value $5,000-UP.
