Lot 280

1833 N-2 R2 PCGS graded MS65BN. PCGS graded MS-65 Brown. Lustrous light chocolate brown with subtle overtones of light bluish steel in the fields. A faint arc of darker toning from the eye to star 1 plus a few additional very faint wisps of similar toning on both sides are the only significant marks. Sharply struck E-MDS with the repunching on ONE CENT crisp. The reverse is rotated 30 degrees CW. This is the plate coin for the die variety in John Wright's The Cent Book that describes the cents of 1816-1839. Called MS60+ and tied for CC#6 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS60 and tied for CC#6, his photo #21612. Our grade is MS62. PCGS Population 1; none finer.
Estimated Value $1,000-UP.
