1831 N-10 R3 PCGS graded MS66RB. PCGS graded MS-66 Red & Brown. Large Letters Reverse. Highly lustrous mint red fading to bluish steel and chocolate, more than a third of the mint color remaining. Spectacular eye appeal with only a couple trivial marks to help identify this cent, including a tiny spot of slightly darker toning at the dentils right of star 11 and a few faint microscopic specks of darker toning under the E in AMERICA. Sharply struck EDS. The dies are uncracked and the dentil tips show obvious doubling from star 10 clockwise to star 2. The obverse fields are smooth and slightly reflective with needle-sharp definition in the portrait and all the stars. A fantastic cent in every respect. Called MS65 choice and CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #20770. Bland says MS65 and tied for CC#1 with one other piece that has less mint color. Our grade is MS66. PCGS Population 1; none finer.
