1899, $5 Silver Certificate. Mule. PMG Gem Uncirculated 65EPQ. . Fr-281. . KL-251. A splendid Gem Indian Chief with original surfaces and terrific eye appeal. The aesthetics are even more impressive when one considers how many of these notes have been mishandled or subject to various attempts at "improvement" over the years. This is the "Mule" variety, with the back plate a leftover from the earlier Elliott-Burke signature combination era.
