Appointing Samuel Jackson a Medical Director in the Navy, with the relative rank of Captain in the Navy. Fine; normal maritime engravings at top and bottom; one tooth missing from blue Navy Department seal, light toning and a few lower-edge crinkles in the vellum. Matted with a portrait of Grant and framed to an overall size of 30¼ x 36¼ in.
