Lot 194

Apollo Soyuz, Misc, Fed. Aero. Int. Diplome de Record. Lot of five similar diplomas (each framed to 14x11") issued for five different records that were broken on this flight. These include: 1) "the first joint spaceflight based on distance by a group, 1,488,320km", 2) "the absolute world altitude record for a group of 237km", 3) "the absolute world endurance record for a group of 46 hours, 46 minutes and 44 seconds" (while the spacecrafts were separated, but both were in orbit together), 4) "the absolute world record for a grouped mass of 20,997 kg", and 5) "the absolute world duration record for a group of 53 hours, 09 minutes and 17 seconds" (while the spacecrafts were joined). Each diploma is hand-signed by F.A.I. officials and has an official embossed seal of authenticity. The F.A.I. is the international body recognized by all countries that certifies all aviation and space flight records. This set of diplomas was given to the consignor in honor of his accomplishments on this flight. The other crew members (Stafford, Brand, Leonov and Kubason) received similar sets, as did both NASA and the Russian Space Agency. These are rare documents and a must-buy for any student of space history and the ASTP flight in particular.
Estimated Value $3,500 - 5,000.
Ex. the Donald "Deke" Slayton Estate collection.
