ASTP, 1975, Russian "Slava" (Glory) Presentation Wristwatch. This wristwatch is engraved on the back with the autograph of Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev, General Secretary of the Communist Party/Russian Premier from 1966-1982. He undoubtedly presented Slayton, and the rest of the ASTP crew, with these watches in honor of their flight - the first joint US/Soviet space flight and a symbol of political detent between the two countries.

This watch is automatic with day/date indicators and a leather strap (some corrosion on the buckle). It is in its original flat plastic case with the Slava name on the inside of the lid.

We have been told by a Russian expert that political memorabilia from Brezhnev is rare in its own right and rarely on the market. This piece is probably one of the very few given to an American, almost unique as regards space and the first that we are aware of to have been put up for auction. Whether you are a political junky, a space buff or a specialist in ASTP memorabilia, don't miss this opportunity to acquire a piece of space history.
Estimated Value $7,500 - 10,000.
Ex. the astronaut Donald "Deke" Slayton Family collection.
