ASTP, 1975, FLOWN Brass Flashlight (5x1") This brass flashlight is marked on the barrel "ACR FA-5, Serial No. 3005, Date of Mfg, 8-72) and was used by Slayton onboard ASTP. There is a small piece of white velcro attached to the movable head of this flashlight. Although apparently still containing its original batteries, the light no longer works.

NASA gave one of these flashlights to each Apollo and Apollo Soyuz astronaut for use throughout their mission. It proved to be quite useful throughout the mission. Given to his family after the flight, this piece of memorabilia has been in the consignor's safe deposit box since the flight. A similar lot, from the Gene Cernan collection, realized over $8,000 in a Heritage auction in March 2008.
Estimated Value $5,000 - 7,500.
Ex. the astronaut Donald "Deke" Slayton Family collection.
