Woolly Mammoth Tusk. Complete tusks from a woolly mammoth Mammuthis primigenius are rare. This complete 22 inch long 1.5 inch diameter tusk is from a juvenile Mammoth that was most likely a male because of its size. It has been polished to reveal various shades of brown with patches of cream colored ivory. These colors resulted from the original white ivory being mineralized over thousands of years by minerals such as vivianite and iron phosphate. This museum quality tusk was found in the Taymyr Peninsula of Siberia and is between 30,000 and 100,000 years old. Most recovered Mammoth ivory is found in broken pieces unlike this exceptional specimen which comes with its own display stand.

Estimated Value $1,300 - 1,600.
