Very Rare and Important T-Rex Humerus. While Tyrannosaurus Rex is the most famous of all dinosaurs, there still are a number of mysteries connected to whether it was a hunter or a scavenger and what it used its small arms for. Even though a number of partial T-Rex skeletons have been found, only a few have been fairly complete and only two have had complete arms, making this offering of a near-complete 2 foot long humerous a rare opportunity. Even though the total length of a T-Rex arm was not much longer than a human arm, its humerus was more than twice as long and twice as thick. Whatever the T-Rex used its arms for, it did not appear to be very effective as most arm bones found show evidence of having been broken and healed while the dinosaur was alive. This enormous bone is 24 inches long, 7 inches wide on the large end, and 5 inches wide on the smaller end. The bone is nearly complete with just some natural cracks and a small missing portion on the smaller end. The missing area yields a wonderful view inside the bone which reveals a honeycomb-like structure that is distinctive in T-Rex bones and that was necessary to make the bones lighter in such a massive creature. This 65 million year old humerus is one of the largest, if not the largest, T-Rex humerus specimens known and was found in the Hell Creek Formation on a private ranch in northern Montana.
