Two Gigantic Trilobites. This magnificent museum quality slab is 22 x 17 inches and contains two of the largest trilobites that ever lived. Even more remarkable, these Acadoparadoxites sp. trilobites were some of the very first of their kind at over 500 million years old. They were one of the largest predators of the warm mid-Cambrian seas that once existed in present day Morocco. The larger of these beasts is 15 inches long and 11 inches in diameter, making it one of the largest trilobites ever found. The other specimen is 10 inches long and 9 inches in diameter. Found in Morocco's Atlas Mountain range, they have an attractive rusty orange color due to limonite (an iron oxide) which nicely contrasts the gray matrix. They are virtually complete with only minor restoration of a few of the spines on the pygidums. With most trilobites being only an inch or so in length, finding a mass mortality slab of multiple giant trilobites is a very rare occurrence.
