Polished Petrified Wood Section. This exceptionally large 11 x 11 x 0.75 inch 225 million year old agatized and polished section of petrified wood is a complete section with bark along the outside. This section is from Madagascar, from the Araucaria tree (a conifer) also known as a monkey puzzle tree. Known as "rainbow wood" because of the wonderful mixture of reds, oranges, gold, browns and grays, these colorful sections are in great demand and are rare as most fossilized wood found in Madagascar just have tones of tan and brown.
