Magritte, René. Son of Man. (1898-1967) Belgian surrealist artist known for his often witty, paradoxical images. Lithograph in colors on wove with F. Mourlot blindstamp, Paris. From a posthumous 1973 edition of Magritte's popular 1964 painting based on a self-portrait. Magritte approved the print, but died before he was able to sign any. It is signed and inscribed in French by his widow Georgette in the lower left: Lithographie est apres le tableau de mon mari René Magritte "Le fils de l'homme" - Georgette Magritte. Minor wear along edges, else fine. Size: 39½ x 30 inches, framed to an overall size of 35¼ x 26 inches.
