Williams, Hank (1923-52) Hank Williams, Sr. was regarded as the greatest country artist ever. Williams' smash hit, Cold, Cold Heart, reached No. 1 on the country charts and later became a pop hit for Tony Bennett. The popularity of I Heard You Crying in Your Sleep and Lovesick Blues earned Williams a trip to perform at the Grand Ole Opry in 1949. Williams appeared regularly at the Opry and organized the Drifting Cowboys to tour, along with additional studio musicians, the United States, Canada and Germany. Why Don't You Love Me and Long Gone Lonesome Blues were No. 1 hits. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1961.

Rare typed document signed ("Hank Williams"), 3pp, 14 x 8½ in., Nashville, Tenn., 18 July 1952. The document is is a contract between Williams and Abe J. Cohen in which Cohen purchased all of the assets of Williams' western wear clothing store "Hank Williams Corral" in Nashville, which had been closed for seven weeks. The purchase price is $4,000 and Cohen promises not to associate Williams' name with his new venture. Boldly signed at the conclusion. Fine.
