Lot 69

1805 C-2 R5 Small 5 with Stems. Fine-12. Very attractive glossy chocolate brown. The surfaces are perfectly smooth, void of any hint of corrosion or verdigris. There are a few light contact marks, including a small scrape in the field before the neck, another on the upper edge of the bust at the neck, and a faint hairline scratch from the hair ribbon to the front edge of the neck. These contact marks blend perfectly with the natural toning and the eye appeal of this example, especially for a variety that usually comes with seriously degraded surfaces, is outstanding. A premium example of this rare variety, in the middle to lower end of the condition census. The reverse is rotated 20 degrees CCW.
Estimated Value $12,000 - 15,000.
Ex Corrado Romano, Stack's 6/16/87:127-Rick Leonard 9/91, Gene Braig 12/03.
