Goldberg Coins and Collectibles

Sale 48

Lot 458

1828 N-9 R4. EF-45 Plus. Sharpness closer to mint state but there is a spot of reddish chocolate toning over the N in CENT, and this spot was very lightly abraded in an attempt to minimize its impact. A similar spot of reddish chocolate toning is located between the A & M in AMERICA, and this spot displays extremely fine roughness but no hint of verdigris. Otherwise the surfaces and eye appeal of the cent are outstanding. Lustrous steel brown with faint wisps of darker steel brown toning mixed in on both sides. Sharply struck MDS.
Estimated Value $2,000 - 2,500.
Ex B. Saylor 2/2/89-March Wells, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Superior 2/7/2000:1903.
