1797 S-134 R4. VF-30. Sharpness EF45 with a thin scratch slanting through the I in UNITED and patches of microscopic roughness on both sides, strongest at TED-S. Mostly glossy dark chocolate brown, but the gloss wanes in the areas that are slightly rough. The obverse is very attractive. M-LDS, Breen state IV. Called EF45 net VF35 and tied for CC#6 in the Bland census. Noyes says EF40 net VF20 and tied for CC#16, his photo #23279. Comes with an impressive provenance.
