Ireland. Groat, 1557. S.6501C. Mary and Philip of Spain, 1554-1558. Mint mark, rose. 'Z' for 'ET' in legend. Crowned facing busts of monarchs. Reverse Crown over Irish harp, crowned initials to left and right. For a normally crudely made coin this has an outstandingly sharp cameo portrait of King Philip and some original mint luster. A trifle weak on Mary's bust, the overall coin virtually as struck. Extremely Fine or better.
