Lot 267

1805 C-3 R4 Small 5 with Stems. VF-20. Sharper by 10 points but there is a small dig very well hidden in the hair at the top of the ear and 5 more on the reverse. The reverse marks are located in relatively inconspicuous places with 3 at UN in UNITED, one in the leaves under the first T in STATES, and the fifth nestled between the ribbon and leaf under the T in CENT. The three marks at UN are the most obvious ones in the group. Otherwise this piece would be choice and positioned very high in the condition census for this tough "Redbook" variety. Frosty steel and chocolate brown. LDS, Manley state 2.0. The swelling in the field before the portrait is strong and the reverse rotated 15 degrees CW.
Estimated Value $6,000 - 8,000.

Realized $6,038
