Great Britain. 'Gothic' Crown, 1853. S.3884; ESC-293; KM-744. Victoria. Detailed crowned bust of Queen wearing ornate dress and with hair in ringlets. Gothic script. Reverse Crowned cruciform shields with emblems of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales in quarters, Gothic style legend. Date mdccliii (1853) in third quarter. Raised lettering on edge (Septimo). This is a deeply toned example of the last year of Gothic Crown. Now seldom seen, it is a much sought after date, usually only found in the gold, silver and copper proof set of this year. NGC graded Proof 63.
