Lot 25

1795 C-3 R5+. Fine-12. Punctuated Date with Plain Edge. Slightly sharper but lightly cleaned and retoned glossy light olive and chocolate brown, the obverse a few shades lighter than the reverse. The surfaces are decent but not perfectly smooth with a few tiny spots of very light roughness on both sides, none notable or at all distracting. There is a faint scuff of fine hairline scratches on the cheek and another under the bust tip. A small planchet fissure on the edge of the planchet barely shows off the lower end of the pole and there is some minor roughness from an apparent planchet void in the dentils below the left side of the fraction. The date and legends are bold. Extremely rare EDS, Manley state 1.0, with the center of the reverse strong, and this is the Manley plate coin for the die state. The reverse is rotated 15 degrees CW. Weight 86.9 grains.
Estimated Value $4,000 - 5,000.
Ex Stack's 9/14/83:618-Chris McCawley 7/93.

Realized $5,175
