Nerva, A.D. 96-98. AE Sestertius minted at Rome, A.D. 96. Laureate head right of Nerva. Reverse: Palm tree with two bunches of dates. RIC 58 [as Scarce]. BMC 88. Cf. H-797. Very Rare, fields smoothed otherwise About Extremely Fine.

Nerva abhorred the way the Jewish tax (FISCI IVDAICI) was collected, however he did not abolish it. This Roman taxation was figured at the same amount as the earlier Temple tax, one half shekel per male, and lasted until the reign of Julian the Hellene.
