[Domitian, A.D. 81-96] AE 23 minted at Sebaste. Laureate head right of Domitian (?); two counterstamps are "head of Tyche" and "rider on bull." Reverse: Tyche left; two counterstamps are "boar right with LXF, dolphin below" and "galley." Cf. H-806. Host coin: Very Good; counterstamps Fine-Very Fine.

The Tenth Legion ("Fretensis") quickly became the main legion of Rome in Judaea. It was stationed there until the Tetrarchal period (end of the A.D. third century).
