August Bechtler, 5 DOLLARS CAROLINA, 134 gr. 21 carats. PCGS graded AU-50. Nicely toned. This orange-gold to pale russet example has original color, unlike the many brightened Bechtler pieces. Glimpses of luster outline the protected areas around the legends. No marks are relevant, although there arises a small planchet irregularity above the A in CAROLINA. Struck from rotated dies.
