1908-S $20 St. Gaudens. With motto. PCGS graded MS-63 CAC Approved. A frosty mint example delicately toned. The 1908-S is one of the rarer issues in the Saint-Gaudens series. Not only does it have a very low mintage second only to the 1907 High Relief, but it is also scarce in circulated grades. In Mint State, the 1908-S is more than ever difficult to locate with MS 63 pieces such as this rated a "buy" by any sophisticated bidder. Most 1908-S double eagles are sharply struck, and this is what we find here. The surfaces display nice frosty luster with a few small marks in the field above the date and on the devices. We have handled very few of these in our years in the auction business, and a real opportunity for the specialist (PCGS # 9149) .
