Lot 1642

1906-S $20 Liberty. PCGS graded MS-63. A beauty exhibiting full mint bloom colors and extra satiny fields. Liberty's cheek is way nicer than average for this issue. The city of San Francisco was nearly destroyed by a powerful earthquake in April 1906. Whether or not this double eagle was minted before the temblor struck is unknown, but the San Francisco Mint, nicknamed The Old Granite Lady, survived intact while other large buildings around it succumbed to the quake itself or the fire afterwards. Bid on this lovely historic golden treasure from those days! (PCGS # 9051) .
Estimated Value $1,600 - 1,700.

Realized $2,185
