Lot 162

1804 C-6 R2. VF-20. Spiked Chin. Slightly sharper with an old, dull horizontal scrape in the field before the throat and a few additional minor contact marks scattered over the obverse. A thin planchet chip over the left top of the L in LIBERTY is a good identifying mark for this piece. Glossy chocolate brown. The obverse was very lightly cleaned long ago but has retoned nicely. Very rare M-LDS, Manley state 10.5, Braig state 7.5. The opening over the M has shrunk considerably leaving a nearly square hole where the opening is quickly disappearing. Removed from an NGC slab graded XF45BN (NGC label included, and it shows the attribution and Reiver provenance).
Estimated Value $300 - 400.
Ex Gene Braig 8/6/89-Jules Reiver, Heritage 1/24/06:19054.

Realized $357
