Lot 1350

1862 $1 Gold Indian. NGC graded MS-62. Well struck and lightly toned, this is a Civil War era gold dollar, the final year in which mintage was elevated. As hostilities between the North and South geared up in 1862, there was unusual heightened demand for the one-dollar denomination since already at this time most silver coins had been withdrawn from circulation in anticipation of wartime monetary inflation (PCGS # 7560) .
Estimated Value $350 - 375.

Realized $380
