Lot 1088

1895-O Morgan Dollar. PCGS graded MS-61. Lightly toned. A very scarce date in Mint State. The strike on this issue is nearly always dull and uninspiring, and the present Mint State is a pleasing exception. The obverse and reverse are both silvery, as struck, with all devices showing exactitude from a full blow by the dies. Nearly unobtainable in strictly Uncirculated condition, the 1895-O is one of the few dates in the Morgan dollar series that approximates the rarity in Mint State of the celebrated 1892-S and 1893-S. All the necessary conditions for an attractive, high grade dollar seem to have pulled the rug out from under the 1895-O. A typical example shows mediocre luster, many scratches, and a anemic strike. This brilliant coin has a fresh, satiny, metallic sheen to it over both sides. Pop 28; 73 finer (PCGS # 7236) .
Estimated Value $20,000 - 22,000.
