Lot 1077

1893-S Morgan Dollar. PCGS graded AU-50. Well struck with some traces of mint luster. Light silvery-grey. Another choice high grade example of this desirable Morgan dollar rarity. Only the lightest wear is seen at the highpoints of Liberty's hair and on the eagle's chest and wings. The 1893-S is, one needs no reminding, the key business strike date in the Morgan series. Collectors aspiring to own a date and mintmark set will find that the 1893-S, while fairly obtainable at a price in grades from Good through Extremely Fine, is nevertheless a challenge in true About Uncirculated condition. They are seldom offered, which explains the price difference between Extremely Fine and About Uncirculated conditions (PCGS # 7226) .
Estimated Value $17,000 - 18,000.

Realized $17,538
