Lot 3908

1937-D Buffalo Nickel. 3 legs. PCGS graded MS-63. Toned on both sides. A popular variety. Lightly toned, yet basically nickel-gray in appearance, typical color for this intriguing mint error when offered in Mint condition. The few wispy abrasions do not detract from the overall pleasing eye appeal of this choice MS63 example. The 1937-D 3-Legs variety was discovered almost immediately in 1937. Articles about it and advertisements for 3-Legs buffalo nickels appeared in "The Numismatic Scrapbook Magazine" in 1937-1938. Ever since, this interesting error has been collected as an integral part of a complete 1913-38 set (PCGS # 3982) .
Estimated Value $3,300 - 3,600.
