Lot 3875

1924-S Buffalo Nickel. PCGS graded MS-64. Lovely rainbow toning. Strong obverse; even stronger reverse. Unusual, to say the least! And desirable. The baking fresh luster on satiny surfaces seems to project the lovely toning outwards at the full speed of light. The sharp shoulder, head and tail details on the bison also marks this as a superior coin compared to those normally found in auctions. It goes without saying, the 1.4 million pieces produced in 1924 is one of the key draws to collectors. The rarity is such that '24-S is elusive in both choicer (high-end) circulated grade as well as Mint State grades.Pop 132; 33 finer, 32 in 65, 1 in 66 (PCGS # 3953) .
Estimated Value $4,000 - 4,500.
The Harpeth Valley Collection.

Realized $7,188
