Lot 3857

1917-S Buffalo Nickel. PCGS graded MS-65. Boldly struck with nice dark rainbow toning supported by gem-level surfaces on both sides. Spot-free originality like this commands a premium. It is fair to say that the majority of the 4.1 million buffalo nickels produced in the San Francisco Mint in 1917 entered circulation and remained there until lost. As such, this issue is accurately described as scarce in all grades. Housed in an old green holder. Pop 91; 21 finer in 66 (PCGS # 3936) .
Estimated Value $3,800 - 4,200.
The Harpeth Valley Collection.

Realized $3,450
