Lot 3694

1820 N-5 R3. PCGS graded MS-63 Brown. Small Date. Frosty light steel brown with darker steel brown toning on the highpoints and faded mint color showing through in protected areas on both sides. The surfaces are satiny and offer excellent eye appeal. The only notable defect is a short, faint hairline scratch in the field before the coronet fading out as it reaches down into the field before the eyebrow. Later die state with very fine die rust covering the portrait and minor dishing at the reverse rim. EAC grade MS60, tied for CC#3, and one of the slightly nicer examples is impounded in the ANS Museum.
Estimated Value $1,500 - 2,000.

Realized $4,370
