German States - Hesse-Cassel. Taler, 1789-FH. Dav-2305; Schütz-2106; KM-532; Hoffm.2650var. Wilhelm IX, 1785-1821. Bust right with H on neck. Reverse Crowned and supported arms. Lustrous with light gray toning. NGC graded MS-62.
This type is known as the "Bieberer" Taler, and the words "Bieberer Silber are found on the reverse. The city of Bieber in Hesse was the home to numerous mines, one of which produced the silver for this coinage.
