German States - Hesse-Cassel. Taler, 1693. Dav-6793; Schütz-1329; KM-340; Hoffm.4756. Karl, 1670-1730. Smaller bust right. Reverse Helmeted arms dividing date. Toned. Extremely Rare. NGC graded AU-55.
Karl, despite ruling sixty years, produced almost no Talers. All are exceptionally rare. Karl's rather unremarkable reign is possibly best remembered for instituting the practice of hiring out soldiers as mercenaries to the other European powers.
