Sicily, Selinus. c.440 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.75). Slow quadriga driven left by Artemis; beside her, Apollo shooting arrow from bow. Reverse Young river god Selinos standing left, sacrificing out of patera over altar; in front, cock; in right field, bull standing left on pedestal; above, selinon leaf. Cf. SNG ANS 688; Jameson 721; Gulbenkian 244. Very rare and desirable in this state lofty state of preservation. Superb Extremely Fine.
