Great Britain. Plantaganet Kings of England. AR Penny, ND (Canterbury, struck January - May 1280). North-1015; S-1386. 1.39 grams. Edward I ("Longshanks"), 1272-1307. Long Cross type; portrait class 2 issue. Central beaded circle, within a crowned bust frontal; +EDW RX AEGL DES hYB around. Reverse: Long cross pattee over central beaded circle, with pellet trefoil in each angle: CIVI TAS CAN TOR spaced around arms. Choice, problem-free example of type, with bold portrait. Attractive old, deep warm gray toning, slightly iridescent in spots. NGC graded AU-58.
Estimated Value $350 - 400.
