Great Britain. Plantaganet Kings of England. AR Penny, ND (Canterbury, struck c. 1180-1189). North-987; S-1363. 1.51 grams. Henry III, 1247-1272 AD. Long Cross type, without scepter; portrait class 3b issue. Moneyer, Nicole. Central beaded circle, within a crowned and bearded face frontal; +hENRICVS REX III around. Reverse: Long voided cross with pellet center and finials, over central beaded circle, with pellet trefoil in each angle: NIC OLE ONC ANT spaced around arms. Good, problem-free example of type -- bold details, and perfectly centered on an ample flan. Remarkable portrait. High rims on both sides. Attractive old deep gray; the recesses lighter tan color. NGC graded AU-50.
