Great Britain. Kings of All England. AR Penny, ND (Stamford, struck c. 1029-1035/6). North-790; S-1159. 0.89 grams. Cnut (the Great), 1016-1035 AD. Short Cross type. Diademed and draped bust left, scepter before; + CNV ·TREX around. Reverse: Central circle, short voided cross with annulet at center; + OSPARD TN STA around. Crisp bold strike, with excellent metal and flan. Much luster. Handsome variegated toning: warm silvery to dark brown, and medium to deep blues. An eye-catching piece. NGC graded MS-62.
