Great Britain. Kings of All England. AR Penny, ND (Oxford, struck c. 1024-1030). North-787; S-1158. 1.18 grams. Cnut (the Great), 1016-1035 AD. Pointed Helmet type. Moneyer, Godwine. Central circle, helmeted and draped bust left within, holding scepter, the bust extending to flan edge; + CNVT: REX ANG: around. Reverse: Central circle, short voided cross joined at center by two circles, inner pellet, and in each angle a broken annulet around inner pellet; + GTDPINE TN TXCEN around. Sharp full strike, with some doubling to obverse. Excellent metal, with much luster. Handsome medium to deep smoky, with soft iridescent golds and greens in the recesses. NGC graded MS-64.
