Great Britain. Kings of All England. AR Penny, ND (Bath, struck c. 1017-1023). North-781; S-1157. 0.75 grams. Cnut (the Great), 1016-1035 AD. Quatrefoil type. Crowned and draped bust left, within quatrefoil (nearly a circle, but still with pellet at each apex); + CNVT REX ANGLOR around. Reverse: Long voided cross over quatrefoil, pellet at apex of each cusp, arms terminate in trefoils; +GO DRIC CON BAÐ spaced around arms. Sharp, on choice flan and metal, but some doubling seen on obverse. Attractive medium to deep gray toning, with luster and areas of blue. Unlisted moneyer for this mint. NGC graded MS-62.
