Great Britain. Kings of All England. AR Penny, ND (Lincoln, struck c. 1017-1023). North-781; S-1157. 0.85 grams. Cnut (the Great), 1016-1035 AD. Quatrefoil type. Moneyer, Leofwine. Crowned and draped bust left, within quatrefoil; + CNVT REX ANGLORVM around. Reverse: Long voided cross over quatrefoil, pellet at apex of each cusp, arms terminate in crescents; +LEO FRIN EMOL INCO spaced around arms. So-called "late" Lincoln-style bust. Sharp, full strike on superb metal. Attractive silvery gray toning, tending toward gold and red, with luster. NGC graded MS-63.
