Great Britain. Archbishops of Canterbury. AR Penny, ND (struck pre-823). North-240/1; S-889; BMC-26. Type III. 1.41 grams. Wulfred, 805-832 AD. Tonsured, draped facing bust within inner circle, three pellets on either side of head; + VVLFRED A - RCHIEPI. Reverse: Central monogram, + SVVEFHERD MONETA around. Boldly struck, perfectly centered on exceptional metal. A few die breaks to be noted on obverse. Variegated smoky to dark gray toning, with luster apparent beneath. Very Rare. NGC graded MS-61.
