Great Britain. Kings of Kent. AR Penny, ND (Canterbury mint). North-221/1; S-878. 1.38 grams. Anonymous Issue of 822-823 AD. Profile "Ceolwulf" diademed portrait facing right; + SWEFHERD MONETA around. Reverse: In four lines: DOROBERNIA CIVITAS; cross pattee between pellets above, pellets below. Crisply struck, on choice metal. Mint luster visible, especially on reverse. Attractive medium silvery gray toning, reflecting blue and some faint pink hues. Extremely Rare. NGC graded MS-63.
